SPEAKING AND LISTENING

Communication difficulties often come down to different communication styles – that and poor listening. Both can be frustrating, confusing, and negatively impact on the work we’re trying to do. Here, we’ll dive into adapting your communication for different audiences and learning how to truly listen so that a person feels heard and supported. 

Learning outcomes:

  • Recognise different communication styles and understand your own style

  • Adapt your communication style for different people

  • Discover how to make yourself open and receptive to what others have to say

  • Apply ‘listening to learn’ when people are saying something you disagree with

  • Apply an easy-to-implement communication framework, including showing that you’re available for others and asking thoughtful questions
